This article is part 1 of a two part series that will tell you about the different airsoft parts you can use to upgrade your AEG. As you will see, there are a lot of parts out there to upgrade your AEG. This article will talk about hop up buckings, hop up chambers, barrels, upgrade springs, spring guides, cylinders, cylinder heads, and air nozzles.
Airsoft Hop Up Buckings. So that the BB flys farther, your AEG must have a hop up bucking which puts backspin on the BB. In general, a soft hop bucking is used for lower FPS setups (350 or less) and a hard hop up bucking is used for higher FPS setups (350 or more).
Airsoft Hop Up System (Chamber). In order for your AEG to shoot more consistently, your AEG has a hop up chamber
Airsoft Barrels. People often change there barrel for a longer/shorter barrel or for a tightbore barrel. A tightbore barrel will make your AEG more accurate. Unless you don’t use high quality BBs, the tighter the barrel the better. The most common size for a stock AEG barrel is 6.08mm, and tightbores are from 6.05mm to 6.01mm. Some manufacturers put a TN coating on there tightbore barrels so that the gun will have an increase of 10+ FPS.
Airsoft Upgrade Spring. In short, if your spring is stronger, it will have more velocity. Springs range form M90 to M180. You should use a weaker spring, such as an M90, if you want a high-speed. You should use a strong spring, such as an M140, if you want a high-torque setup. Your gears and other gearbox parts will get damaged if you use a high powered spring with poor quality internals. A spring can either be oil tempered or stainless Airsoft Spring are rated in Meters Per Second. For Example, an M140 spring goes 140 Meters Per Second.
Airsoft Spring Guide. You must have a spring guide in you gearbox so that the spring won’t jump into the gear case. You can either purchase steel or plastic spring guides. If your spring guide has spacers, your muzzle velocity will increase.
Airsoft Cylinder. Inorder for air to be forced down your barrel, you must have a cylinder to compress the air. The shorter the cylinder the shorter the barrel you should use. Some cylinders are manufactured with a teflon coating so that your ROF (Rate Of Fire) is increased.
Airsoft Cylinder Head. Upgrade cylinder heads will either make your gun quieter or it will give it a better air seal.
Airsoft Air Nozzle. The most important thing the air nozzle does is push a bb into the hop up system (chamber). Another thing it does, is it provides a better air seal.
