Myg wanted to know where our names came from, interesting timing, because I am in the process of reserecting my other blog, a RL one. During the process I started to think about how closely related my SL & RL are. Because DesertWolf in SL is, to me, just an extension of myself into the metaverse.. so I am DesertWolf, and he is me.

So now to answer Myg’s question.. you have to go back quite a few years, back to the mid to late 90s. Back then when the Internet was young and AOL was King… I started doing website design frelance. At the time I was living on the High Desert are of Colorado. I needed a name for my company, I have a thing for wolves, so I started looking at domain names. Well wolf.com and Wolves.com were taken so I started thinking a bit more creatively. I figured I lived in the desert, so DesertWolf was born.. problem was Desertwolf.com was owned by a Middle Eastern company.. so I ended up with DesertWolf Designs.. Ever sice then I have used DesertWolf for my handle whenever I could. The last name, Longstaff, was just a matter of what was available when I joined SL. I am interested in the Middle Age, so when while going through the list of available last names I came across Longstaff…

So that is the story of my name…
